Gifting Hands Foundation Inc. was established in 2021, inspired by the profound compassion of one woman, Irene Tyme, grandmother to the Founder/CEO, Donna-Mae Carnegie who demonstrated that “there is always enough to be shared.” This core belief was put into action during the COVID-19 pandemic when the severe lack of medical supplies, especially in rural Jamaica, became apparent.
Founded by a dedicated group of Jamaican healthcare and business professionals now residing in the US, the Foundation became a reality with a clear mission: to address critical healthcare needs first in their home country, with the goal of expanding throughout the region. Their initial community drive successfully delivered essential medical supplies and PPE (including N95 masks, gloves, oxygen tubing, and nebulizers) to the Mandeville Regional and Percy Junor Hospitals. Since then, continued shipments of medical grade supplies have been shipped to Jamaica.
Gifting Hands Foundation Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity in Maryland, ensuring that all donations designated for specific projects are applied directly to those initiatives. The president and trustees maintain close connections with family and friends in Jamaica and they are driven to use their experiences, skillsets, and love for Jamaicans to help improve the healthcare of rural communities. The Foundation continues its work, operating on the powerful principle that when a community comes together, the impact is life changing.
